Holiday Obsession

Oh how I love the holidays!! The cool fall weather, the wonderful decor, the fun party dresses for all the holiday parties....what's not to love? Here some of my favorite holiday-inspired fashion things so far this year :)

Glimmer Graph Shell - Anthropology
Polished Platinum Dress - Anthropology
Emmett Boots - J Crew

Freckles + Kitty

This is such a cute girls line of clothes. A couple of months ago, they were one of the features on Zulilly, and I ordered a dress for Baylor for over half off. When I received it, I knew it would be a new favorite of mine. Their dresses are super comfy and wash friendly jersey, no itchy lace ruffles here, but they use such great patterns and colors, that they  still can be used for nicer outings and would make some great photo outfits.

Here's the one I got for Baylor (in black) and another color variation they've got this time,
She sported hers with bright pink tights and black boots, so cute!

I really liked this little candy-striper set, but it was already sold out :(

I'm not a big purple fan, but I really like this combination with the grey and green

Not really Baylor's style, or my favorite, but I love the bold colors against the black

Think PInk

I've been checking out all these neat nail polish blogs, and it's amazing what talent some people have. Me, I've always been more into pretty toes, mainly because I've been biting my fingernails since I can remember, horrible habit, I know. But...by keeping them painted the last two weeks, I've actually managed to break my habit. I've been doing pink, for breast cancer awareness month, and here's a few I liked.
Base coat, Fiji by Essie, Top coat, Pink Shatter by OPI
I know my nails may look short, but believe me, I have itty bitty hands and nail beds, and these are nails for me :)

This look I saw Nat Your Average Girl, and thought I'd try a pink version

I layered a stripe of glitter along the tip of the nail, and then came back with a swipe along the entire nail, I really liked the result, super girly :)

Base coat was again, Fiji by Essie, and Top coat was an old Holographic pink glitter from Claire's Pure Ice

Home Tour: Front Porch

Ehh!! I love how the front porch turned out!

Fabulous metal pumpkins from Celebrations

Pillows in outdoor canvas, picked up on sale for a steal at Pottery Barn

We found some new topiarys to replace the ones that we had managed to kill in only three months; and I picked up some great stained concrete pots from Woerners and popped in some burgundy mums, and Voila! Instant Fall!

We plan on carving the pumpkins this weekend, and then it's time for some trick-or-treating Monday :)

Here's the great wreath I picked up, also from Celebrations, but haven't quite figured how to get to stay on the front door, all my attempts thus far it has fallen from.

How do you Halloween?

Simple Chicken Florentine

I'm a master of quick and easy meals. With a variable of activities....football, soccer, cheer leading,  gymnastics....you name it, we're busy doing it....I am all about finding and trying out simple meals for the weekdays. While I was picking up some sour cream for Tacos, I saw these Philadelphia Cooking Creme sauces that I'd seen advertised on TV. I decided to try out the Savory Garlic one, and it turned out pretty tasty.

What you need:

-Boneless Chicken Breast - I used four
-Philadelphia Savory Garlic Cooking Creme
-Red Peppers - omitted due to popular request :)
-Bowtie Pasta - improvised with Pasta Twists
-Baby Spinach

Cut chicken into bite size pieces and cook (along with red peppers if you choose to use),
at the same time cook your pasta

Add fresh spinach, and cook until wilted,
stir in sauce and add hot pasta

Yum! And this only took about fifteen minutes.
Had to throw in a pic with my Halloween dishtowel :)

Home Tour: Living Room

Okay, I've been seriously delinquent in posting these, but I had temporarily misplaced my camera charger, and want really wanted nice pics, not from my phone :) I picked up all sorts of fall goodies a few weeks ago, as mentioned here, and have them all out now. I'm very much a neutral, gray-tan, kind of gal, with just pops of color, so I love all the neutral items I found. You may notice semi-bare walls, this continues to be an issue throughout the house, my husband and I can't commit to what we want to hang, and we've become so accustom to the minimalist look, that everytime we put something up, we think it looks cluttered, suggestions are welcomed...... ;)

This great pot my dad bought us as a house-warming gift, from Celebrations, when he was down last month, I love the contrast between the glossy ceramic top and earth matte bottom.

I am currently really into anyhting with a  turquoise hue, I have little pops in both the living rooms and master bedroom

Mercury glass candle sticks, another housewarming I adore

♥♥♥ My Pottery Barn Couch, yay, I waited six months for this, we got the PB Comfort in Oatmeal Linen, and it is so comfortable!! I love how neutral it is, because I can change throws and pillows all year round for different looks. Best of all, we can all snuggle and watch a movie together, and there is room for everyone.

Displaying my fall finds I mentioned here

I made a large floor pillow after seeing one at DUH that I really liked that cost $300. I figured I could probably make a more economical version, So I found some fun swirly canvas at Jo-anns and made it along with a smaller neck pillow. Very comfy when you're laying on the floor playing with the kiddos or puppy, and I like how it looks layered in the corner with a throw....again, love my neutrals!

This great little ottoman I picked up at Objects in Eastern Shore, its quirky and it's useful. It has storage inside and doubles as an extra seat. It's got a padded seat, covered in a burlap, with rusted license plates hammered all around the side. And this great cow hide pillow I picked up from my all time favorite store, DUH ♥

More fall finds from PB. I like how the pillow on the right has fall colors, but still pulls in my turquoise.

This Glass Cabinet entertainment center from PB is great at cutting out dust. Inside is a gorgeous hand gilded mask my mom brought me back from Italy several years ago, and  some funkly old cowhide books I found on One King Lane. You may have noticed, I kind of have a thing for cow hides :)

Another pop of turquoise hidden behind a neutral linen pillow....and our great PB glass top coffee table. I want to change out the items inside to go along with the seasons, but haven't gotten there yet....on the hunt for some good small items to display in there,

Some of my favorite things about this houseare the tray ceilings and the long, grand hallway from the front entry to the living room. It's still bare now, but it's gonna look fabulous when I find the right items to hang down it.

Check back Friday for the front porch, it's sooo cute!

Birthday Bonanza

Somehow, it completely slipped past me to do a post on the kids Luau Birthday Bash we did this year. Baylor's birthday is at the beginning of September, and Grier's at the end, so usually its always too cold to do a pool party for Grier, this year we did a dual party mid-September, and it turned out great!

The cakes turned out awesome, we used The Cake Shop, and I loved what they did.

Grier and his buddy, these blow ups were a hit, we had three total, so kids were just going wild!

High school friends, Jen and John, with their cutie, Peyton, and #2 on the way :)

Baylor with her cousin and bestie :)

Love these two! ♥
